About Me

My name is Caleb McCormick (he/him), and I graduated from the University of Colorado Denver in May of 2024 with a major in 3D Graphics and Animation and a Minor in Illustration.

My main interests are animation, storyboarding, and concept art, however I love all aspects of the 3D pipeline, especially modeling and sculpting in Maya and ZBrush.

For my senior thesis project in CU Denver's Digital Animation Center, I worked with a group of fellow seniors to create the short film Fighter Kites, a story inspired by the Bangladesh Liberation War of 1971. It is about young girl named Ahki who uses her skills in kite fighting to save her village from a giant beast.

I also worked on the story development for another one of the Digital Animation Center's senior shorts, Mothman, about a painter who moves into a secluded, moth-filled house to focus on perfecting his art. However, throughout his time there, he slowly transforms into a monstrous form of the moths who have been watching him, changing him forever. (Some flashing in this film may cause issues for photosensitive viewers.)

I am passionate about working on stories that are created by and for underrepresented groups in animation. As a disabled, transgender person myself, seeing animated media with LGBTQ+ and disability representation were transformative and inspiring experiences growing up, and I strive to make things that create those types of experiences for others as well.

Outside of animation and illustration, I enjoy playing fetch with my service dog Molly, going bird watching, and gathering with my friends to play table top roleplaying games.
